December 2010
Things have been going really well for our family! Hyrum is gone a lot but hopefully that will be over very soon! Macoy has learned to read, he is sent home with a book a day from school that he reads. Its really exciting! Makena has gotten used to preschool and she absolutely loves it! Mya is doing great with her physical therapy. She has also learned to count to 11! I have been learning new things, like making soap and different crafts with a few friends. We are headed to AZ in 2 weeks for the holidays! We are really excited to see every one and spend time with people we haven't seen in about a year! Plus it will be warm!! Here is a pic of the kids during Halloween. I will upload more later.

SERE training
Hyrum has gone through 8 weeks of training so far. During the first phase he lost a total of 18lbs! He looked like a skeleton! He was able to gain back almost half of that before he went out again. I was told that every phase they will average a 10 lbs lose because of dehydration and starvationd lost another 10 lbs. But he is now over 170 again! After this is all over I want him to be back at his 180 mark! He is currently doing the Desert phase and will be home Saturday. The kids miss him as much as I do but we are getting used to him being gone for a week or more at a time. Macoy and Makena are starting school Sept. 2nd! I'm really excited and I think that they will have so much fun making friends and getting to learn! We have gotten them both new school clothes and backpack stuff! They had so much fun picking that out! Mya took her first steps by herself yesterday!!!! It was so exciting, especially since we were told that she probably wouldnt start walking till she was 2 years old or older. She is my little princess!

Mya's Surgery
We had a very busy 2 days with Mya in Seattle. The first day was full of appts and the second day was her surgery. When we got to the hospital the day of her surgery she was already sick of people she didn't know touching her. As long as I held her she did good. I gave her a bath with the sterilizing soap and wiped her down to prep her for her muscle biopsy. After she was all ready we decided that she needed some thing to calm her because she would cry as soon as a medical staff member would enter the room. After she drank it about 5 minutes later she started to doze off and make weird noises. It was really funny and cute the way she delt with the meds. The nurse came in to take her and she just turned to us and waved and said bye. The surgery took about 45 minutes and she was put into the recovery room. I heard her scream when she woke up and knew that they were bringing her out. When they handed her to me she just laid her head down on my shoulder and wouldn't let any one else come near her. After a few minutes she kept pointing to the door and would say go, go. She wanted to get out of there so bad! I ended up having to stand out of the door with her because she was getting anxious and kicked around making her incision bleed. As soon as we left the surgery area she was so happy! She was smiling again and playing. She did really good on the 4 1/2 hour drive home. When we got home she was so excited to see her siblings! She scooted around and played with them like nothing ever happened! She has been like that ever since! It is day 3 after her surgery and she is her normal self! I'm so proud of her and the way she handled things.

Cross Fit
Hyrum went to a cross fit workout memorial today. Every one was in teams of 4 from SST trainees and Hyrums team finished first! The workout was a 2 mile ruck, 300 pull ups, 300 KB's, 300 wall balls, 300 push ups and 300 box jumps. It was really fun and the turnout was great. It was a great way to remember why we have Memorial Day and to pay tribute to those who have fallen fighting for our freedom that so many take for granted!

Macoy's Surgery
Macoy had his tonsils taken out yesterday. He did so good! He was the only kid who didnt cry in the recovery room. So far the healing process has gone very well! The dr. said that since he always had a sore throat that he would heal very well with out much complaint. Well, the dr. was right! We are on day 2 of the healing process and he hasnt complained once! Im so glad that he is going to feel better! I just hope that he keeps healing so well! He has definately enjoyed getting to eat popsicles all day too! These pictures are after his surgery while he was chomping down on his popsicle.

NEW ADVENTURES!!!
Today we went to the Jorgenson's and Hyrum butchered 3 of their roosters. It was the first time the kids had seen this. They seemed curious and Macoy was a little unsure at first. We explained to them that we were going to eat them for dinner and they were fine with it after that. It was a very fun afternoon and a great experience! We loved spending time with the Jorgenson family and getting to see all the animals on their farm.
