SERE training

Hyrum has gone through 8 weeks of training so far. During the first phase he lost a total of 18lbs! He looked like a skeleton! He was able to gain back almost half of that before he went out again. I was told that every phase they will average a 10 lbs lose because of dehydration and starvationd lost another 10 lbs. But he is now over 170 again! After this is all over I want him to be back at his 180 mark! He is currently doing the Desert phase and will be home Saturday. The kids miss him as much as I do but we are getting used to him being gone for a week or more at a time. Macoy and Makena are starting school Sept. 2nd! I'm really excited and I think that they will have so much fun making friends and getting to learn! We have gotten them both new school clothes and backpack stuff! They had so much fun picking that out! Mya took her first steps by herself yesterday!!!! It was so exciting, especially since we were told that she probably wouldnt start walking till she was 2 years old or older. She is my little princess!

Mya's Surgery

More pictures of Mya at the hospital.

Mya's Surgery

We had a very busy 2 days with Mya in Seattle. The first day was full of appts and the second day was her surgery. When we got to the hospital the day of her surgery she was already sick of people she didn't know touching her. As long as I held her she did good. I gave her a bath with the sterilizing soap and wiped her down to prep her for her muscle biopsy. After she was all ready we decided that she needed some thing to calm her because she would cry as soon as a medical staff member would enter the room. After she drank it about 5 minutes later she started to doze off and make weird noises. It was really funny and cute the way she delt with the meds. The nurse came in to take her and she just turned to us and waved and said bye. The surgery took about 45 minutes and she was put into the recovery room. I heard her scream when she woke up and knew that they were bringing her out. When they handed her to me she just laid her head down on my shoulder and wouldn't let any one else come near her. After a few minutes she kept pointing to the door and would say go, go. She wanted to get out of there so bad! I ended up having to stand out of the door with her because she was getting anxious and kicked around making her incision bleed. As soon as we left the surgery area she was so happy! She was smiling again and playing. She did really good on the 4 1/2 hour drive home. When we got home she was so excited to see her siblings! She scooted around and played with them like nothing ever happened! She has been like that ever since! It is day 3 after her surgery and she is her normal self! I'm so proud of her and the way she handled things.

SST training

Hyrum's SST trainee group went on a ruck the other day and came up on this old bridge. They build a swing off of it and would swing into the river below. Hyrum is the one with the red shorts standing in the middle.

Mya Standing!!!

Mya can now pull herself to a stand! Im so excited that she is progressing so well! She is such a happy little girl and she has found many different ways to get around. But now that she is more curious she is starting to stand on her own and will be walking before we know it!

Medical Lake

Last weekend we went to Madical Lake. It was really fun and very pretty! They have a great paved walkway that is ideal for families with small children. It was still a little chilly, but we did go pretty late in the day. It was a very calm and relaxing experience!
